Filter for Power
I noticed 8.0 does not have any new views for power.
Looking at the “Powered Off Virtual Machine List” view.
The Time Setting shows 30 days.
The Filter shows the metric “Summary|Reclaimable Powered Off”
VM “zvm” was shutdown Nov 2nd
under “All Metrics”, search for Power and there are 3.
- Summary|Reclaimable Powered Of
- System|Power ON
- Summary|Runtime|Power State
You can see only the last 2 show the read date the VM was shut down.
Here is direct URL for the View to import. Below explains how to create it by hand.
- Create a new view for Summary Runtime Power State Timestamp 15 Days
/ui/index.action#/dashboards/views - Presentation – List 50 VMs per page is fine
- Subjects – Virtual Machine
- Data – Change the dropdown to Properties and search for power. Double-click on Power State
Data – Add the Parent vCenter Datacenter Cluster Folder – Fill in the label. - Update the preview Source to a vCenter or vSphere World
- Update Metric Label to Power State. Sort Order – Ascending Transformation – Time Stamp – Absolute Timestamp
- Time Settings – from 7 days to 1 year so that the timestamp is not truncated. Ex. VM was powered off 50 days ago, but you choose 7 day. The view will show a timestamp of 7 days ago.
- Filter – Properties – Summary|Runtime|Power State – Is – Powered Off
Now you have a nice View that can be found in the object of your choosing, create report or dashboard.
