For those fortunate to have a near 4k desktop monitor 3840 x 2160, here are 2 free portable apps to tune the size and placement of your windows. I am running server 2012 R2 as my main OS thanks to the tweaks at http://www.win2008workstation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=2499
Out of the box, you can snap a window to the far left or right of the screen to have 50/50 vertical split.
- I use AquaSnap to snap 4 windows to the top left/right, bottom left/right.
- I use WindowGrid to create a perfect square for multiple windows within one of those 4 slices of the screen.

Hold down the Left mouse button and drag it to one of the four corners. Repeat 3 more times for the perfect 4x grid.

I use it to make the windows smaller inside 4×4 grid (plus a perfect shape).
Hold down the Left mouse button and pick where you want the window to start (the location of the mouse arrow). Keep holding the Left mouse button, Right click and move the mouse around to the grid
